About Our Classes:

  1. I don't know very much about computers and software and not sure where to start.  What classes do most people take?

Most people take a Windows Level 1 class to learn the basics of working with Windows Operating System.  Most people who use MS Office also take Word and/or Excel Level 1 classes.  Most businesses use Windows, Word and Excel as the basic office software.  Most all computers use Windows and many come with Office software.

  1. How do I register for a class?

Go to the Registration and Class Request page, and fill out the Registration Form and submit.

  1. I'm not sure what Level class to take, e.g. Excel Level 1, Excel Level 2, or Excel Level 3?

Go to the Class Descriptions page and read the course description(s).  If you can honestly say to yourself that you know and understand a given topic and can do that for most all if not all of the topics listed in the class description, then take the next Level class.  If you have any doubts, it may be to your benefit to take a lower level class to make sure that you "haven't missed anything".
If you have any questions call 668-3922 or email joel@pcapplications.com.

  1. Do I have to know about Windows to take any of the other classes?

No.

  1. Is there a big difference between Office 2000/Office XP/Office 2003 applications?

Yes and no.  For most all of the applications, taking a Level 1 class, for example, is virtually the same whether it be 2000/XP/2003.  One should be able to work proficiently with any version no matter which of the versions' class they may have taken.  PowerPoint would be a minor exception where as this program has gone through some layout and functionality changes (still not a big deal once one is familiar with the program in general).  If you have any questions call 668-3922 or email joel@pcapplications.com.

  1. Is there a big difference between Office 2007 and 2003 (or any earlier versions) of Office applications?

YES.  The user interface starting with Office 2007 is completely different than it has ever been.  There are no more Menus and Toolbars, there are Ribbons with Command Groups and Buttons in  2007.  It is VERY important to take a class in the version that you are working with or will work with.  Please see Office 2003 VS Office 2007.  If you have any questions call 668-3922 or email joel@pcapplications.com.

  2. Do I have to take PC Applications' Level 1 class to take a Level 2 class at PC Applications?

No, not necessarily.  You would be expected to know the information covered in a lower level class in order to take the next Level class (See Item 3 Above).  How you have gathered your knowledge is not an issue (classes taken elsewhere, personal experience, etc).  It is very important though, that you take a class that best fits your level of knowledge and even though you may already know some of the material; it may be to your benefit to take a lower level class to make sure that you "haven't missed anything".  If you have any questions call 668-3922 or email joel@pcapplications.com.

  1. Do all of the classes on the Calendar occur?

Not necessarily.  I require just 1 person registering for a class before it is confirmed.  If nobody registers for a class, it is cancelled.  Once you have been confirmed, a strict Cancellation Policy goes into effect.

  1. How do I pay for the class?

Payment by check is expected the day of the class unless specific arrangements have been made in advance.  Invoicing can be arranged by calling 668-3922.  A credit card number my be required to hold a reservation.  I do not accept credit cards for payment of classes but will charge an account if payment has not been received or for a "No Show" charge (See Item 9).

  1. Do you have a cancellation policy?

Yes There are NO cancellations or substitutions allowed within 2 weeks of the scheduled class.  You will be charged for the class for which you have been confirmed!

  1. Who does the training?

Joel Levy who is also the owner of the business.  Joel does all of the training (all applications at all levels) and thus has a broad perspective of each application and MS Office as a whole.   Joel has been involved in training in various situations for over 25 years starting with Graduate School as a teaching assistant working on his MS degree.  Joel has been specifically teaching computer classes since 1993 and brings incredible enthusiasm in a relaxed, laid back style that makes the learning fun and enjoyable.  You can expect the consistency of quality no matter what class you may take.

  1. How big are the classes?

Classes can vary from 1 to 12.  Class size average is 1-3 and rarely over 6.  This allows for very personalized attention.

  1. What support materials do I get after taking a class?

At the end of a class, each student will receive a unique Access Key Code.  The Access Key Code will be valid for 1 Year from the date of the class.  The Access Key Code will allow the student to setup their "Learning Hub" which is their personal portal to the Online Support products associated with the specific class they attended (eBook, Video Review Modules, Knowledge Assessment, Additional Related Interactive Learning Module).  A printed book is still available for $15 in addition to the course fee.
